At Agua Mala Adventure Co., the thrill of Baja overlanding meets the peace of mind of top-notch safety precautions and requirements. All of our guests' safety and enjoyment are our top priorities, and we take pride in our strict adherence to the highest safety standards in the industry.

Our knowledgeable guides receive in-depth training in first aid and wilderness survival, and we outfit each vehicle with the most recent safety equipment and communication tools. Additionally, we thoroughly check each vehicle before every tour to ensure all the equipment is in working order.

 

Here's a list of some of the procedures and requirements we follow to keep our guests safe:

  • Vehicle inspections: Before each tour, our guide vehicles undergo a thorough inspection to ensure that all equipment is in proper working condition.

  • First aid and wilderness survival training: Our guides undergo rigorous training in first aid and wilderness survival, so they are prepared to handle any situation.

  • Safety gear and communication equipment: Guide vehicles have the latest safety gear and communication equipment, including fire extinguishers, first aid kits, two-way satellite messengers and trackers.

  • Emergency response plan: We have a comprehensive emergency response plan in place to prepare us to respond quickly and effectively in an emergency.

  • Risk assessments: We conduct a thorough risk assessment before each tour to identify potential hazards and plan accordingly.

 

To participate in our tours we require the following safety equipment:

  • That participants have a reliable and street-legal vehicle capable of travelling off-road for extended periods.

  • All riders wear motorcycle helmets and appropriate riding gear.

  • A first aid kit, 

  • A fire extinguisher,

  • A shovel, 

  • Spare fuel.

 

To participate in our events, we require that:

  • That participants have a reliable and street-legal vehicle capable of travelling off-road for extended periods.

  • All riders wear motorcycle helmets and appropriate riding gear.

 

For events less than 10 hours, we highly recommend that participants have the following:

  • A first aid kit, 

  • A tow rope,

  • Sand ladders or traction boards,

  • A fire extinguisher, 

  • A shovel, 

  • Spare fuel,

  • A  satellite communicator//tracker with a feed forwarded to us.

 

For events longer than 10 hours, we require all of the above in addition to:

  • 3L of water per person,

  • for open cockpit vehicles or motorcycles, a bivvy sac or sleeping bag per person.

 

For safety and peace of mind, we recommend that participants also have a sat-phone, subscribe to the emergency recovery plan provided by their satellite communications provider, a full cage roll bar, race seats and harnesses, a fire-retardant suit and boots, and a helmet.
